TONE Winter Gathering:  It's Not Just Technical

Besides the Massachusetts Maritime Academy simulator tour detailed below, TONE has arranged for a special opportunity at wellness spa Ebb & Flow for gathering attendees.

The MMA Simulator Tour will take place during the late morning and into the early afternoon.  Anyone who wishes to take advantage of the Ebb & Flow offer can book directly with Beth and pick a time convenient for them.  (The dinner itself will begin with a social hour at 5:30 PM and the full buffet will begin at 7:00 PM.)

During the day you'll have lots of time to take advantage of any of these delightful wellness and spa offerings.

This screen shot gives you an idea of the services that Ebb & Flow is offering.  Any Winter Gathering attendee will also receive a substantial special discount rate for any service they book.

Click below for a more detailed list of services that Ebb & Flow provides and their regular prices.  And remember, TONE members will receive a discount off those printed prices.

Great News!

TONE has received a firm commitment from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) that they will be hosting TONE members at a special active participation tour of the full-scope container ship pilot house simulator on Saturday, March 7, 2015, prior to the dinner in Onset.

If you ever saw the movie Captain Phillips, you know what the bridge of a huge ship looks like.  This event is your chance to actually stand a watch on the bridge and manipulate the controls!  Unless you plan to get your master's papers and ship out, this is as close as you'll come to conning a large ship.  In fact, our host told his TONE contact that if people tend to get seasick on the ocean, they should take their anti-seasick pills before stepping into the simulator.  You want real?   We've got real.

We are working out the final details about time of arrival at the Academy and tour start time.  We will be loading an event registration link here on the site as soon as we have final details completed.  We expect that the tour will begin late morning on 3/7/2015 on the campus of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Onset, MA.  In the meantime, you can register for the dinner itself and we'll notify you directly when the simulator tour registration is available.

TONE 2015 Winter Dinner - 3/7/2015

This year's TONE Winter Dinner will take place at Salerno's in scenic Onset, Mass. on Saturday night, March 7, 2015. We're planning a delicious catered buffet dinner preceded by a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres hour.  Salerno's is a function facility located in a historic 1800's building in the heart of the Onset harborfront district.  It features a wonderful old-time dark wood bar in the cocktail area and a lovely main dining room for our buffet dinner.  The dinner cost has been set at $50.00 per person.

Salerno's

Onset throbs with life during the summer and is often a stop for the Long Island TONE contingent as they journey to Maine.  It will be cold and quiet when we arrive, but we should have the place to ourselves and the winter water views are often as uniquely spectacular as their summer counterparts.  Onset sits on the northern edge of the Cape Cod Canal and is easy to reach by car.  It's basically at the end of the I-495/MA Rt. 25 multi-lane highway that leads to the Bourne Bridge and Cape Cod:  a snap to drive to.

TONE has also reserved a block of 15 rooms at the nearby Inn on Onset Bay.  This charming old Victorian era house has been transformed into a modern day inn with all the amenities that TONE members would expect.  The rooms have been recently refurbished and all feature comfortable queen and king beds, modern baths, and in some cases spectacular harbor views.  The Inn on Onset Bay is the perfect counterpart to our selection of Salerno's for this winter's gathering.

The Inn is only a short distance from Salerno's so dinner guests can park at the inn and walk up to dinner.  March 7 is only one day later than the full moon so if it's a clear night expect a gorgeous view of the harbor (which we walk right past).

This is the first TONE event of the 2015 season and we look forward to a great night meeting up with old friends, making new ones, and generally making the best of things until we can get back on our boats.   Based on the success of our past dinners in Winthrop, Bristol, and Mystic, we expect this evening to be a great season starter!

Please Do Come.
